I can help you with your product life cycle and provide expertise and support where products have become obsolete or require alternative components, design modifications or reverse engineering
Obsolete component issues
Experienced at finding alternative components to replace obsolete parts.
Includes schematic changes to reflect new parts and, where necessary, partial redesign and PCB relay.
“The art of sustainment engineering and obsolete components is often to minimise the change to the absolute necessary”. This approach saves time and money and minimises potential knock-on effects.” Less is often more.
Design modifications and updates
Requirements change and designs live on long after the NPI phase.
A product’s longevity is a testament to good design; however, a midlife update can be beneficial in creating product churn and fresh sales.
Back engineering electronic design (circuits and PCBs)
Recently I worked with a client whose contract PCB manufacturer went into liquidation. The client subsequently lost most of the design data (schematics and Gerber files) for a 20-year-old product.
The product was back-engineered from one example piece and some minimal paper designs. As an added benefit, several potential obsolescences were designed out at the same time!
